Flowers

This was a personal project exploring the combination of 3D art and traditional painting. I created a low-poly flower and vase model, printed the UV maps and collaborated with fine artist, Zoe Parker Moon, who provided the hand painted textures. These were then scanned and used in the final model.

I love any opportunity to take elements of my work out of the digital realm and into the physical world. Using real paint gives a particular feel that can be difficult to replicate with digital brushes, especially the textural element that gives a certain warmth to the model. I also enjoyed the juxtaposition between a blocky, simple model and comparatively detailed paintwork. It's a style I really enjoyed working in and intend to experiment more with in the future.

Below are the scanned painted UV maps.

I feel this style also lends itself very well to retro PSX/N64 style renders due to it's low-poly count and detailed images that when pixelated, create a nostalgiacally low-fi effect.
